It's been a while since my last update.
Since July I have been to the PKRA Germany, PKRA Fuerteventura and PKRA Turkey. I am now in 5th Place in the overall standings.
I am however not going to finish the rest of the tour. I feel that going to the last 2 events will not be worth the time and money spent to get there. My chances of finishing the tour in the top 3 are slim to none, and I do not think I want to spend a lot of money and time away from my family for a 4th place.
Instead I will stay home and concentrate on my new Job at Gaastra Kiteboarding. As most of you know I have been riding for Gaastra since mid June. Since then it became clear that there is a place for me there in the research and development department. So now I will have my hands full developing and testing together with Urs Hungerbühler (Gaastras Kite Designer) and also managing the growing Gaastra Team.
2014 brought some major improvements in the Gaastra Kite Range. 2 New kites replaced the Jekyll and Hatch and the Pure was updated with new sick graphics and the new inflation valve that is also on all new 2014 Gaastra kites.
I have pretty much fallen in love with the Pure. It does everything I want. It turns fast, jumps high, is sick in the waves. It's the perfect solution for my riding style. It has also given me the confidence to get back into Freestyle after over a year off after my back operation.
Things are looking good for the future and I am pretty happy with how things are turning out.
At the moment I am in Tarifa testing with Urs, but I will be heading to Germany on the 7. of Sept, to compete in the Red Bull Coast 2 Coast Crossing/Race. It's a race from the German Island of Fehmarn over to the Danish coast and back. It will be about 40km long, so about the same as the long distance race on Bonaire back in June. It's going to be very cool doing this as about 400 Riders will be on the starting line for this.
I hope I will see some of you there!
