European Course Continentals Day 2

Written by Editor on . Posted in News

To foil or not to foil, this was the question on day two of the European Course Racing Championships 2009 in Douarnenez. In three out of six rounds Marc Blanc (FRA) dominated racing with a foilboard ahead of Bruno Sroka and Charles Deleau (both France).

There are intense discussions of foilboard need to be separated into an own class due to the supreme lightwind performance and on longer upwind parts. Marc Blanc was able to benefit of these new type of boards yesterday, sometimes more than a minute ahead of the rest of the fleet at the upwind mark. Bruno Sroka and Charles Delau, the 2007 and 2008 PKRA course racing champions, were not able to follow on their traditional course racing boards.

After a day of very tactical racing, Bruno still remains in first after the second day, but there is more to come.

In the womens fleet, there is very close racing between local Fabienne D'Ortoli (FRA) and 2008 PKRA course race champion Steph Bridge (GBR).
"It is super motivation, every race is so close between us" stated Fabienne at the end of a busy day of racing.
