PKRA tests new discipline at the Fuerteventura Grand Slam

Written by Editor on . Posted in News

The 2010 PKRA Fuerteventura Kiteboarding Super Grand Slam will be without a doubt a memorable event.

This year Fuerteventura will be celebrating 25 years of hosting World Cup events, which dates back to 1986 with the PBA Windsurfing World Cup.

In addition to the Speed, Freestyle and Race disciplines being held in Fuerteventura, the Professional Kiteboard Riders Association will be testing a new high-tech discipline called the Sky-Masters.

With the help of a modern device called the Shadowbox, it will enable our crew to record and accurately measure high altitudes jumps performed by competitors during this new unique discipline.

The PKRA has established a growing partnership with Shadowbox Inc., the only manufacturer of a tough, fully waterproof data-recording device capable of recording speed, location, acceleration, jump height, jump distance, hang time, G-forces, rotation degrees, spin rates and much more.

Throughout the remainder of the year we will work closely with Shadowbox Inc. to develop a user-friendly wireless device capable of displaying real time jump heights to spectators on the beach and live webcast to online viewers at home.

Once the testing is successfully complete, we will incorporate the Sky- Masters as an official PKRA competition discipline.

Due to the legendary Fuerteventura strong winds it will be the perfect location for the Sky-Masters to be tested and developed, allowing for a new competition format to our lineup.
