Two more races at the 2010 Kiteracing Europeans at Sylt

Written by Editor on . Posted in News

Despite the early skippersmeeting at 06:00 there was not enough wind to run the freestyle competition side of the Kite Tour Europe stop at Westerland/Sylt.

After the first heat had to be restarted more than once, the race committee switched over to the racing discipline and completed two more races on a windward/leeward course with offset mark. Bruno Sroka (FRA, Cabrinha) is still in the lead with 0.3 points ahead of Rolf van der Vlugt (NED, Airush)

Steph Bridge (GBR, North) scored two bullets today but is still in third position behind Katja Roose (NED, Airush) and Caroline Adrien (FRA, Cabrinha).

After a longer lunch break, the wind picked up a bit again and another attempt was made to run the freestyle competition, first again for the men and later for the womens side of the elimination ladder. Unfortunately the wind did not play ball and the first heats had to be abandoned as well.

The Race Committee then called for an one hour expression session. Alexandre Neto won the mens competition with a pop to blind handlepass in the waves, and the ladies showed a nice team performance with Nicky Rudd Sophia Lennartsson with a surface handle pass. Both winners are rewarded by a 250 Euro cheque from Spielbank Westerland.

Competition continues tomorrow at 11:00 and the pricegiving will be at 1500 at the promenade in Westerland.
