Tomorrow is decision day !
ISAF council today posteponed the decision on the 10 events for the 2016 Olympic Games to Saturday morning, but a lot of interesting things have been decided already in preparation.
The voting system was discussed as well as some specifications and clarifications of individual submissions.
An important issue here was the meaning of "mixed events". It has been clarified that those events are aiming at a national team medal rather than individual medals, which means two competitors of one nation competing for ONE medal on different equipment. Examples for similar medals in the Olympic Games are team ski jumping, team dressage, or as just introduced in the winter olympics, team luge.
A team event would be surely something new for the world of Olympic sailing and would allow both sports, kiteboarding and windsurfing, to be showcased at the Olympic Games as long as only two medals for board sports are available.
