Slalom World Championships Day 3

Written by Editor on . Posted in News

Day 3 of the 2011 slslom world championships kicked off with a solid 12-15 knots breeze - unfortunately offshore and shifty which made setting a course impossible in the early hours.

The wind stabilised at 1200 enough to finalize yesterdays third round and then run another full 4 eliminations.

The semi finals of round three saw all the big names advancing without problems, but in the finals both Leroy (USA) and Villar (ESP) had a jump start and were disqualified, so the final was between Lake (USA) and Sroka (FRA), with Lake taking his first win of the event, and after yesterdays ninth place the discard he needed. In the womens finals it was again Adrien (FRA) ahead of Boese (GER) and Anton (ESP).

Round 4 was seeded for eight person heats again and no surprises so far, Leroy took the win ahead of Lake and Sroka. Same picture in the womens fleet, Adrien, then Boese and Sickinger (CAN).

Round 5 went ahead with 8 person heats again, causing better and better action in the upcoming wind. The final saw the usual suspects, but on the third leg of the course team USA tangled while trying to overtake Daubos (FRA) and thus couldnt finish. Garijo (ESP) won this round ahead of Sroka and Daubos. For the women it was again Adrien, Boese, and Anton.

After a short break round six went underway, with a couple of general recalls due to jump starts. Lake this time had the better speed to keep Leroy down, with Garijo in third. Adrien again ahead of Boese and Imbert (FRA) this time.

For the final race of the day the race committee called for a full fleet start with a really long first leg, with Lake and Leroy having the best speed of the fleet and keeping Garijo down in third. Boese won for the women this time, with Adrien in second and Imbert in third.

After seven round, in the mens fleet Leroy and Lake are tied at 4.1 points with Sroka in third, only 0.7 points ahead of Garijo.

In the womens fleet, Adrien is clear ahead of Boese and Anton.
