KTA Vietnam Countdown

Written by Editor on . Posted in News

The countdown begins to the KTA Vietnam in Mui Ne next week – the 15th – 19th February. Its round two of the Asian Freestyle and KTA Freestyle Tour Championships, along with for the first time ever a full blown Asian Old Skool Championship event and you thought staying hooked in was a thing of the past.

Hosted by our key partners and sponsors for this round C2Sky (http://c2skykitecenter.com/) the KTA is excited to be returning in its third season to Mui Ne which can serve up some of the strongest winds and hardcore water conditions that we see on the tour. Last year there was a blip as the wind held off at the beginning of the event, but by the end it came through and results and Frenchie’s camera work speak for themselves.

As has been said before this one is from the grassroots up and we would like to say a big thank you to the local support and input being given to the KTA Vietnam. Particularly we would like to thank local co-sponsors Unique, the Kinn Team, Ocean Republic and Mui Mart for providing infrastructure help, the social events and locations during the competition, ensuring that the KTA vibe on and off the water is complete. So check out the full event schedule on the KTA Vietnam location page to see what is in store.

With US$10,000 worth of prizes up for grabs, along with world ranking points for the sanctioned disciplines there’s a lot to get on the water for. Huge thanks once again to the KTA Co-Sponsor and key brand sponsor Cabrinha along with tour brand sponsors Underground and Maelstorm for their continued solid backing. So whether you are a freestyle competitor, Old Skool rider or Big Air specialist if you come in first you will take a new Cabrinha kite, second place riders hook up with an Underground board and third places will have hands on to Maelstorm prizes package of goodies. Even if you don’t hit one of the top three slots in any of the comps don’t despair as their will be other chance throughout the week to land yourself some event takeaways and prizes, but you need to be there to find out how and what!

Due to the funding ups and downs of this season the KTA Riders Grant which normal financially supports where it can up and coming riders to compete is being approached from a different angle. So at each round this year the most promising local rider at the event (as judged by the judge team)  not in one of the top three positions will be awarded as the best new local talent their own custom board from Kiwi based board builder Sprockett Boards, who is supporting rider development via the KTA Riders Grant Scheme for the season.

So if you’re in the region pack your bags and get over to Mui Ne next week for an event to remember and if not follow us through our daily Facebook and video reports.

See you in Vietnam!
